Pickleball is a sport that has been gaining popularity around the world due to its unique blend of elements from tennis, badminton, and table tennis. One of the key aspects of Pickleball is the paddle used to hit the ball. The paddle is an essential component of the game, and the technology and materials used in making these paddles have evolved significantly over the years.

However, the issue of the paddle's performance and its impact on the game has been a subject of debate in the Pickleball community. Some players have been concerned that certain paddles give players an unfair advantage, leading to an unbalanced playing field. To address this concern, it looks like the MLP,PPA, and USA Pickleball will be implementing new paddle testing procedures, which should ensure an equal playing field to Pickleball, when it comes to paddles.  According to their press release

"The focus at MLP Daytona Beach will be on data collection and analysis of the current standards for compliance testing, in order to begin setting the protocols and policies for in-field testing."

"Automated equipment specifically designed for the sport of pickleball will be used to conduct laboratory and on-site testing of paddles and balls, ensuring that the testing is fair and equitable. Data analysis – via a proprietary software package – will be used to interpret and make informed decisions regarding the equipment of the sport, to ensure all athletes compete within the same guidelines."

I believe the new paddle testing procedures in Pickleball are a significant development for the sport. They will ensure that all players are playing with equipment that has the same level of performance, bringing a level of fairness to the game. Additionally, the new standards will encourage innovation and creativity in the design of Pickleball paddles, which will lead to exciting advancements in the sport. As Pickleball continues to grow in popularity, these new testing procedures will play an essential role in ensuring that the game remains fair and competitive for all players.
